Dr. Mark Rush has over 35 years of experience collectively in human services, over 25 years of which have been as a psychotherapist and psychologist. He specializes in family and relationship estrangement issues, anxiety (panic, phobias, posttraumatic stress disorder, agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety, etc.), anger management, stress and coping skills (including techniques related to sleep), addiction and dependency issues (substance, sexual, gambling, etc.), couples and relationship counseling (issues, patterns, skills including communication), family counseling, depression, focus or concentration issues, and phase of life concerns (career/occupational, new purpose, empty nest, etc.). He works with people ages 14 and up.

In addition to his private practice, he has worked with mental health centers, residential treatment centers, and veterans' hospitals.

"I believe in using approaches that work, and that have some basis in research, and that in my experience have been useful to my clients.

My best and most profound teachers over the years have and continue to be my clients," Dr. Rush says.

"I feel that it is very important that my clients are pursuing the goals in treatment that are important to them, and that it is important to get results as soon as possible. I believe that it is important for therapy to be well focused and on target with regard to my clients' goals and priorities. It is important that the approaches used in therapy make sense to my clients and that my clients are in agreement with the approaches used and how therapy is proceeding. I ask for feedback from clients regularly, and I believe in a collaborative process. I prefer that my clients have processes that they are working on in between sessions that are related to their goals and developing skills in the short and long term."

Dr. Rush tends to favor cognitive-behavioral approaches, but also recognizes and works with developmental issues, including adult development or phase of life issues. He is experienced in using exposure with response prevention techniques. He also believes it is important to work with physiological issues which are related to mental and emotional functioning. He believes in being nonjudgmental and accepting, and in helping clients to develop and refine their abilities to use their thinking, emotions, and behavior in an integrated way to enhance the quality of their lives.

Over the years Dr. Rush has consistently gotten very good feedback from his clients with regard to their treatment results. His clients also indicate that Dr. Rush focused on what was important to them, in a way that made sense to them.

He is on most insurance provider panels, and some of his clients pay out of pocket. The fee for clients who are paying out of pocket or self-pay is $100.00 per session.
